Alderley Edge (Birse Rail)

Back to Case Studies

ATL constructed 4nr 4m ID shafts alongside a high speed rail line averaging a depth of 16m through sandy clay and sand lenses of up to 2m deep. The shafts were sunk as a jacked caisson under water until they reached depth. ATL then lined the shafts with steel rebar fixed insitu and mass filled with concrete to form foundations for a bridge. The scheme was agreed on programme with a final account settlement within 2 weeks of finishing on  site
